A Day of Football

Yesterday before dessert Enzo our waiter who only speaks a little bit of English brought us knives and we said ooo what are those for Enzo and he grabbed the knife and held it in a stabbing position and said "Stab, Stab! To killa your friendsa!" He was just telling a scherzo but we were all laughing that out of all words these are the English ones he knows.

Today we had class quite late so we got lunched served by the brothers. We had caccavelle with broccoli, pistachio, sausage and mozzarello and then zucchini and peppers with vinegar and fresh oranges from their trees for dessert.
After class we just went and hung out at the beach.
A little way out, there are huge rocks that we swam out to and climbed up, making sure to avoid the sea urchins. After most of the class swam back to shore, Brittany, Taryn and I, stayed bathing on the rocks and three Italian boys who were playing football (aka soccer) on the beach near us swam up to dive off the rocks. I decided this was a great time to practice my Italian so I asked him Come ti chiami? He said Chris-sa (or something like that haha) we ended up playing football for a bit, the boys were surprised I could kick as far as I could, I said Via! Via! (or whatever Lorenzo told us was Go, I can't spell it properly) to tell them to go further but they didn't so I kicked it over their head and they shouted out in surprise. I have no aim but we enjoyed passing back and forth for a bit.

After grabbing some gelato and heading home we were waiting for the ride to dinner when we saw the usual 13 year old boys playing football in the streets in front of the hostel. They were singing opera so I decided to join them from on top of the roof of the hostel and they looked up and laughed. I practiced my Italian a little more and met Luca and Antonio and a few others...we don't know their names because we think they started telling us dirty words instead of names. Taryn and I ended up going down and playing football with them until Taryn got her butt squeezed and we had to give one of the fresh ones a little smack. Luca was really nice and yelled No touch-ey, no touch-ey and didn't let him play anymore.

After, we got a ride to the restaurant, and since Brittany and I were earlier we got to see the farm and garden where they get all their food from, which is directly behind the restaurant. They had peacocks for pets and then for food there were chickens and roosters and bees for honey and lemon and orange trees and many other little crops. The best part of the night came next (actually the past 24 hours has been the absolute best of the entire trip so far!) I got a ride on the moped with Enzo. He asked if it was my first ride and when I said yes he zoomed really fast along the road.

Tonight we were so lucky and got limoncello...some people couldn't tolerate it as well as others.
Jenn and I drinking our Limoncello

I got another ride home on the vespa, which made my night.

    1. Yes they are extremely comfortable. They are the only shoe I've worn in Italy so far including walking thirty min to school and back. I even played football in them and was running around

    1. They are extremely comfortable. I played football in them and yesterday I walked down 2000 steps in them and then walked the rest of the day. They are pretty comparable to runners but it depends what you are doing. If you are doing strenuous hikes on uneven ground I would probably wear runners that give a bit more stability but in terms of walking all day I have not had any problems with them-no blisters and all day comfort and arch support
