This was some architecture at the airport.
After we found our gorgeous condo we headed out for dinner...even though it was midnight here. We ended up at Fife, a very popular restaurant with the locals, due to the large portion sizes and cheap prices.
I am not a fan of seafood but since I knew there would definitely be fresh fish in Croatia I decided I should probably embrace it and ordered Black cuttlefish risotto and tried some of my dad's squid and calamari. It wasn't my favourite but I was proud that I was being "adventurous."
This morning we headed out around town to see the Roman palace of Diocletian, which has been inhabited since the fourth century A.D.
This was the statue of Gregorius of Nin, which you are apparently supposed to rub his toe for good luck.
By this point we were getting hungry so we stopped at this little restaurant within the winding streets, called Figa. Around the corner of the restaurant they have tables stacked up the stairs so you can sit outside.
We had a poached egg with prosciutto and lettuce and it was delicious. We will probably be going back there another day as well.
I loved all the stone buildings, they are abosultely gorgeous to me, especially with all the cute flower pots people have planted outside.
After breakfast we walked more around the streets and just explored. We came upon this dome area where there were traditional Dalmatian singers who were amazing and the dome environment projected their voices beautifully.
It was quite entertaining watching a group of tourists make a singer leave the group and take a picture with them in the middle of singing.
This was the top of the Dome.
We found a big vegetable market where they use old scales with weights to calculate the price.
We also came upon a fresh fish market, where I breathed through my mouth so I didn't throw up from the smell.
I love wall art
We were told to be careful where we park our car, or it could get picked up and towed away. We didn't know they literally meant it would get picked up. This luckily was someone elses car and not ours. Tomorrow we will likely head to the Krka national park to see the waterfalls. Sadly, we both found out we have dust particles within our cameras that leave black dots on pictures, especially on blue sky/ocean backgrounds, which we just found out is common with the Panasonic Lumix cameras, so we now have to search around town for affordable cameras...or just use our iphones the rest of the trip.
